Enamel Box

This is a superb enamel box most likely made in France (or maybe Germany) in the 18th century. It is handpainted with scene of two cherubs with a lady in a landscape surrounding with the lady being half exposed. The front has a scene of a cherub with a flower basket on it with two floral arrangements on either side. Each side of the box has a small scene of a building in a landscape surrounding on it, the bottom just has a landscape scene on it and the back a scene of a cherub with some flower garlands. The best part I think is that the inside lid has a superb scene of a couple on it that is top quality! This is one of the best boxes of this style I have seen in ages. The metal hinges, etc. a likely bronze but were definitely gilded at some point but a lot of that has worn away over the last 225 years or so. The box is not marked but that is pretty much the norm around this time and for this type of item. There is an old Christie's auction sticker underneath. It is1.75 inches tall, 3.75 inches wide and 2.375 inches deep. It is in good condition considering the age and what one sees normally! The top has a cracked area on the right side mostly in the white and a spot where the enamel is gone right above the center front. There are also three faint cracks near the back hinge but they are minor. The font has a faint crack in the top center and a missing area to the right with some cracking there. The bottom has a few faint cracks and a spot of wear on the taller tree. The sides just have some faint cracks and the back does have some cracks as well but nothing terrible either. The inside bottom has a bit of damage with two missing spots right below the metal and some cracks but the scene on the inside lid is great with just some minor cracks and two crack that are a bit worse - one going through his face. The might be able to get cleaned up - I know on porcelain that is possible but not sure about it here but all in all this piece is in great condition and nicer than most I have seen!
