Alcora Cache Pot

This is a rare little cache pot made by Alcora of Spain in the late 18th century. The full name of the maker is Real Fábrica del Conde de Aranda ( l'Alcora ) and it is really ahrd to find a piece by this maker - it is the first I have owned. Plates and cups are the usual ones you come across in museums and often damaged but I could only find one other of these little flower pots in a museum in Spain. The pot has a nice shape to it with a ring handle to either sie and a floral arrangement to the front and back with some gold trim to the edges and handles. This piece would ahve belonged to the German flower series of dishes inspired by the engravings of Weidemann. The design was introduced by Vincente Alvaro after a stay in Paris which explains why it looks so French in style. The porcelain is actually soft paste in nature which was introduced by Pierre Cloosermens in 1787. So this piece dates after 1787. The quality of the porcelain is very nice and the hand painted decoration is quite nice as well. The pot is marked with their typical A mark in puce with one side of the A thicker than the other. The piece is in superb condition with some wear to the gilding. The pot is 3.5 inches tall and 4.375 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
