Alcora Small Floral Cup

This is a rare small cup made by Alcora of Spain in the late 18th century. The full name of the maker is Real Fábrica del Conde de Aranda ( l'Alcora ) and it is really hard to find pieces by this maker! Plates and cups are found mostly in museums and often damaged. The cup is hand painted with a large floral arrangement to on side and two smaller single flowers to the rest of the space. Gold trim to the edges and handle. This piece would have belonged to the German flower series of dishes inspired by the engravings of Weidemann . The design was introduced by Vincente Alvaro after a stay in Paris which explains why it looks so French in style. The quality of the porcelain is very nice! The piece is marked with their typical A mark in underneath as well as another incised. The piece is in great condition with a firing flaw to the top of the handle and a chip to the foot ring which is not really visible when on display. I forgot to take a pic of it but you can see it on the underside picture. If you need another jsut let me know and I'll send it over. The cup is 2.125 inches tall and 2 inches in diameter. While it matches the saucer I own in terms of design it is too small for it so they are not a perfect match. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $399
