Amstel Bird Scene Plate #1

This is a plate made by Oude Amstel in about 1790. Oude Amstel was transferred from the Loosdrecht site around 1784. Not much changed afterwards and they soon ran into trouble again and in 1809 they were moved to the Nieuve Amstel site. The plate is nicely handpainted with a large scene in the center of a bird in a landscape surrounding. Five small scattered cornflowers through the center as well as a cornflower garland around the rim and a gold trim to the edge. The quality of the scene is superb! The plate appears in perfect display condition but there is a superb repair to a spider crack in the center seen when held to the light only. The plate is marked with the underglaze blue Amstel mark. It is 10.125 inches in diameter so a nice size. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
