Ansbach Prunus Blossom Cup & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer made by Ansbach around 1760. Ansbach started making porcelain around 1758 and the factory flourished from 1758 through 1777 after which it closed somewhere around 1860. Both pieces are decorated with an applied prunus blossom design. I think it is actually applied rather than part of the mold in this case pointing to a very early manufacturing date. The set is marked with the underglaze blue A mark underneath with the cup having an impressed 2 and the saucer some hard to read incised mark on the footring. The cup is 1.75 inches tall and 2.875 inches in diameter. The saucer is a bit under 1 inch tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. Both pieces have some manufacturing flaws like black firing spots otherwise the saucer is in great condition but the cup sadly lacks its handle and has two minor chips to the footring. Still a nice example an not one you will find again anytime soon! Please email me for more information or photos.
