Ansbach Scenic Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made by Ansbach around 1765. It is handpainted with two amazing scenes in polychrome and the cup has their typical fancy handle shape as well. Ansbach started making porcelain around 1758 and the factory flourished from 1758 through 1777 after which it closed somewhere around 1860. The factory was already in private hands since 1807. The set is marked with the underglaze blue A mark underneath as well as an incised 10 (or something like that) on the saucer. The cup is 2.5 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. The saucer is a bit over 1 inch tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. The set is in good condition with the cup being perfect and the saucer three footring chips all of which are least partially glazed and thus from the making and three very small rim chips that are mostly underneath and don't take away from the piece.
