Arras Polychrome Floral Plate

This is a rare plate made by Arras between 1770 and 1790. This Belgian maker was founded in 1770 by Joseph Francois Boussomaert and was meant to comete with the more well known Tournai factory. That obviously didn't work outso well and they closed fairly quickly around 1790. So a short lived maker and thus their wares are hard to find. The plate is made of soft paste porcelain and hand painted with a polychrome floral arrangement in the center as well as three single flowers along the rim. Nicely shaped edge. This floral design is well known and of the few plates I ahve come across in all my year of collecting this design was almost always the one I saw. A very nice looking plate of pretty good quality but with some firings flaws like firing dots common to their wares. The plate is in good condition but does have wear to the glaze much more normal to softpaste porcelain than hard paste. It displays nicely and is a rare example. The dish is marked underneath with their AR mark in puce as shown as well as an incised mark. The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 9.625 inches in diameter.
