Bayeux Chinoserie Tea Caddy

This is a really nice and quite hard to find tea caddy / jar / lidded vase made by Bayeux in France in the mid 19th century. This shape here I have not come across before. Bayeux made some amazing things in the Chinoiserie taste and this piece is no exception. The main body has four main sides with the corners being angled and decorated with a nice design. Two sides have a Asian figure to them while the other two sides have a design typical for this maker. The shoulders of the caddy have two flowers and two more designs to it. The lid has a peach branch with its leaves and fruit to them on top and flower blossoms and gold characters to the sides as shown. The enamels are thick which is one of the give aways for identifying items by this maker. Really a great eaxmple for a maker that is under appreciated most of the time. The piece with the lid in place is 3.375 inches tall and 2.25 inches on each side. The caddy is in great condition with a tiny bit of gold wear. As nice as they come. The piece is unmarked but that is very normal for this maker during this period. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
