Boisette Scenic Plate

This is a very rare scenic plate made by Boisette around 1780. I used to own one of the few known figurines by them and this piece here is just as rare. This maker was only around for about 15 years and not much is known about them. One does see floral decorated pieces by them from time to time but scenic pieces are almost unheard of especially in good condition. The plate is hand painted with three scenes along the rim. Eachs cene is flanked by a tree on either side and has some figures and buildings in it as well as a nice landscape surrounding. The scenes go into the well of the plate a little bit and there are a few tiny single flowers or leaves in the well to hide figirng or paste flaws. Nice gold trim to the edge. A really nice looking piece you will not find again. It is almost in perfect condition but there is a little wear to the tiny flowers and leaves sicne they covered raised spots and thus got worn a little. A minor touch of wear to the gilding and some chips to the foot ring which look to be from when it was made but it's as nice as they come! Amazing piece from one of the rarest makers. Marked underneath with the under glaze blue script B mark as shown. The plate is 1 inch tall and 9 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
