Charles Bourne Cup & Saucer

This is a Charles Bourne cup and saucer painted with a gilt strawberry pattern. A very pleasing and refined decoration of strawberries and leaves sets this set apart, created at the Bourne factory around 1820. Charles Bourne was one of many small establishments making fine porcelains in this period. He started in ceramics around 1807, and added a line of porcelain items about 1815. Godden says Bourne’s porcelain was “compact and of a good white tone . . . very similar to the Spode wares. . . . The now rare Bourne porcelains are often very colorful and the gilding is of a high order.” This cup and saucer bear pattern number 310. Excellent condition with only slight gilt wear. The saucer measures 5.5 inches across. This set belongs to a good friend of mine. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $110
