Tea Caddy

This is a tea jar or tea caddy made by Caughley in about 1780 during the Salopian period. It is decorated with an under glaze blue trim along the top and edge of the lid with a gold chain link type design over that. A bit more gold trim to the main body unde rthe blue trim with a gold line trim near the bottom part. Three gold flowers painted on the main body. There used to be gilding to the finial as well as the same design as on the main body going from the blue trim on the lid inwards. The piece is in great condition with a small chip to the trim of the main body as well as two even smaller chips to the lid edge. Fine kiln dust throughout. A few spots of staining to the bottom. The piece is marked under neath with the under glaze blue S mark as shown. The lidded jar is 4.5 inches tall and 3.125 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
