Rare Kakiemon Spittoon

This is a very rare, fun and interesting piece made by Chantilly in the mid 18th century. It is a spittoon / cuspidor that has a typical shape to it with a nicely shaped to edge and a handle to one side. The piece is made of soft paste porcelain and hand painted in the Kekiemon palette. The inside top rim has a nice Kakiemon floral design to it as well as a smaller design to the other side. The underside rim has a kakiemon flower arrangement near the handle and some small leaves and spots painted all around likely to hide small firing flaws. The best part however is that the little bottom bulb part is hand painted all around with an imaginary landscape scene in the kakiemon style with grass, rocks and flowering branches as well as one insect/bug. Red design to the handle and brown trim to the edge. An amazing piece to look at and something you won't see again anytime soon! The piece is in good condition but does have two larger rim chips as well as some tiny ones as shown. I showed the larger rim chips from both the top and underside! If need be a decent restorer could hide them completely but I think it's part of its history and it oes display nicely the way it is. A fun piece to looks at and a great conversation starter. Great for the person that collects medical pieces or even chamber pots as well I think. The piece is marked underneath with the red hunting horn mark as well as a bunch of old dealer / collector stickers. The spittoon is 2.875 inches tall with a top diameter of 4.875 inches and the handle sticks out about 0.5 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
