Coalport Chivers Plate

This is a really nice plate made by Coalport in the early 20th century. It has a still life scene in the center hand painted by the famous Frederick H. Chivers who was among their very best painter's. The scene is of two pears with their leaves and some berries below lying on a mossy bank. And as if the scene isn't good enough on its own the rim has a superb deep cobalt blue ground color to it with some amazing fancy gilding to it with some raised details along the edge. There is also a gold ring around the scene with some raised details to it. A stunning piece by a good maker. The scene is signed on the lower left side as shown - F. H. Chivers. The piece is in great condition and displays perfectly. The dish is 0.875 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the crown with Coalport over AD 1750 below and England above it plus some impressed numbers and a letter and 5351 over R as shown. Retailer mark for T. Goode & Co.
