Coalport Sevres Creamer

This is a rare creamer / milk jug or pot à lait à trois pieds made by Coalport or Copeland to copy the original Sevres piece around the early 19th century. A superb piece handpainted with two great bird scenes, a dark blue ground and lots of thick detailed gilding. A true masterpiece but sadly just a copy in the end - be it an old one. The creamer is not marked underneath which is the norm on these types of pieces meant to fool people even back then. It is made of some kind of hybrid paste I think and shows areas in the white of very fine crazing. This piece is in great display condition but a piece of the leg closest to the handle is broken off. Just means it leans a bit in the direction when it is standing but it really isn't very obvious. Otherwise perfect and a must have example for the Sevres collector to learn about copies, etc. Also nice for any other collection since it is a very well made piece! The creamer is 3.5 inches tall, about 4.875 inches long including the handle and spout and has a diameter of about 3 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $125
