Eel Figurine

This is a fun fish figurine made by Royal Copenhagen in the 20th century. Probably a fairly early piece since it does not have any incised marks. The mark is all but gone so I cannot date it more precisely! It's a well know but not common figure by them. Actually it's pretty hard to find. The piece is called the common eel and was first modeled in 1888 by C. F. Liisberg 1888. Nicely modeled in a typical slithering position and hand painted nicely in the typical underglaze colors. The figurine is in perfect condition. It is marked underneath but not legibly. The piece is just above 0.625 inches tall, 4.375 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep. ROyal Copenhagen made quite a few different fish figurines if you are interested look them up. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
