Bernstorff Castle Scene Plate

This is a superb plate made by Royal Copenhagen in the 19th century. It is hand painted with a nice large scene in the center of Bernstorff Castle / Slot / Palace in Gentofte , Denmark, was built in the middle of the 18th century for Foreign Minister Johann Hartwig Ernst von Bernstorff. It remained in the possession of the Bernstorff family until 1812 and in 1842 it was bought by Christian VIII. For many years, it was used as a summer residence by Christian IX until his death in 1906. The scene is surrounded by a nice gold trim with another thin gold line around the edge of the well and more gold trim along the rim of the plate. It is very rare to find a nice scenic plate made by Copenhagen and the royal residences are especially nice ones. The plate is in great condition with some minor wear to the gilding. It is marked underneath with the three wavy blue lines in under glaze blue. The plate is 1.125 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
