Creamware Cup & Saucer

This is a Staffordshire Creamware Coffee Cup and Saucer from the third quarter of the 18th century. This delicate and simple coffee cup comes with molded handle and its accompanying saucer. The creamy white sets were more highly prized in the 18th century than they are today, when collectors prefer the colored examples, but they do show off the superlative sense of design that pervaded this period. The saucer is 4 and 5/8 inches across and the cup 2 7/8 high. A rare survivor, it bears a rim chip along with some flaws that are original to the making. This is a piece owned by a good friend of mine. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $375
