Creamware Coffeepot

This is a Creamware black-printed coffeepot circa 1785. This Wedgwood-style coffeepot was probably printed from transfers produced by the Sadler and Green partnership in Liverpool, who also furnished prints to Wedgwood. That doesn't help to identify the maker of this piece, because prints tended to be used by many manufacturers, but one can note from the craftsmanship of the precise baluster shape and the interesting details that this maker took pride in producing beautiful and functional creamware items, very much in the Wedgwood style. It stands 10 inches tall and has an expert repair to the very tip of the spout. The flange of the lid has obvious chipping, but this section is not seen when on display so it has been left as is. Excellent condition otherwise, with a bright and appealing transfer-printed decoration of a tea party involving properly dressed lovers with a properly dressed black servant. This is a piece owned by a good friend of mine. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
