Dutch Delft Fish Seller Figurine

This is a polychrome Dutch Delft figurine of a fish seller made in the Netherlands in the 18th century around 1760. The piece is possibly the lid of a butter tub but could also have been sold separately as decoration. The figural piece has a flat base with the figure sitting on top of a colorful rock. It is holding a large fish in the left hand and what looks to be a key in the right hand. Typical colors fo these early pieces and it is in really nice condition. Just three small chips to the edge of the hat and two to the apron bottom edge. None take away from the piece at all! These polychrome hand painted Delftware / tin glazed earthenware pieces are not easy to find. The piece is marked with a blue line on the underside as shown. It is about 4.25 inches tall with a diameter of around 4 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
