Duvivier Cherub Scene Plate

This is an amazing and rare plate made by Derby between 1769 and 1771. A truly amazing plate that has four hand painted floral garlands in between areas of small roses surrounded by gold trim. Reddish and blue scrolls with gold trim to them around the edge of the well and the thing that makes this plate very special is that superb puce scene in the center. It is of a putti sitting on a cloud with a cloth behind him and a helmet by his side painted by the famous Fidelle Duvivier . Gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. Duvivier seems to have been at the factory from late 1769 until 1771 though the contract had him be there until 1773. We do not know if he stayed until his contract was up. Very few pieces are know to have been painted by him which makes this plate very rare. That plus how fancy it is makes this a very unique example for Derby. The plate is in great condition with some minor wear and use marks. It displays superbly! The plate is not marked which is not uncommon on their early wares. It is 1.125 inches tall and 8.5 inches in diameter so on the smaller side. Fairly thickly potted soft paste porcelain. It would be from the Chelsea Derby period and if marked would ahve had the anchor with a D mark. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
