Early Chinoiserie Plate

This is a really nice and early plate made by Derby around 1760. A small plate with a ncie shape to it that is decorated with a bit of a relief design to the paste along the edge below which there is hand painted blue trim all around followed by a ribbed design to the paste around the edge of the well and an amazing hand painted polychrome Chinoiserie scene in the center surrounded by a matching blue trim. The scene is of an Asian lady holding onto a chair with some pots in the background. She is dressed in a traditoal outfit. An unusual and rare design for this maker. A really fun plate that is quite different from all others I have come across over the years so it was a must have! The plate is in great condition with a small hairline to the edge shown from both above and below (about 0.625 inches long and stable!) There are some small manufacturing spots on top which stem from both flaws in the paste and a bit of kiln dust. The underside has a lot more manufacturing flaws to it as shown. A rare plate and it displays superbly. Not one you will find again anytime soon! The plate is not marked which is not uncommon on their early wares. It is 0.875 inches tall and 6.75 inches in diameter so on the smaller side. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
