DuPaquier Beaker Cup

This is a rare chocloate beaker style cup made by Du Paquier around 1725. Claudius Innocentius du Paquier was the founder of Europe's second oldest porcelain maker which he started in 1718. A precursor to the Vienna porcelain factory. His wares are exceedingly rare and owning some of his pieces was always a goal of mine so I was thrilled to buy three pieces recently. This piece here embodies the perfect example in my opinion! It has a nice simple shape to it and is decorated with kakiemon designs to the front and back using their typical colors. These are really well done but to me what mkes this so typical DuPaqiuer is the Schwarzlot style trim around the scenes and on the sides. The super detailed and fancy scrolls and strapwork in black tones with gold highlights are amazing and it sets it apart from any other maker! The inside has a very typical trim for this maker in black and gold. Just an amazing piece and as rare as they come! It being in perfect condition besides the tiniest of chip to the edge does not hurt either as many of these delicate pieces have big chips or hairlines but this one here does not! Typical deep foot. The piece is of amazing quality and in my mind one of the few that is even better than Meissen but don't tell them I said that! Off course that explains why their wares are so sought after! The piece is not marked which is the norm. As nice as they come! The cup is 2.625 inches tall and has a diameter of 2.875 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
