Chestnut

This is a fun little piece of faience or majolica or earthenware (beats me what it is but it's great and old). Could be from the Staffordshire region or somewhere else in England or in France. Now to the stuff I know. It is very nice and of superb quality. It is a chestnut that is brown with the green shell partially opened and a green leaf and stem attached. It certainly is from the 18th century or maybe a little bit newer but not much. The piece is of a nice display size being about 2.5 inches in diameter. Unmarked but that would be normal and a mark would just be in the way. An airhole by the stem to keep it from cracking during the firing process. The chestnut is in great condition with just the one glaze chip to the brown area which isn't bad and never bothered me any. So all in all a superb and fun piece that is something a bit different than what I usually like. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
