Scattered Flowers & Insects Snuff Box

This is a really fun fairly large snuff / patch / pil box / tabatiere made by an unknown maker in the mid to late 18th century . When I first bought it I thought it would be enamel over copper and from the Staffordshire or Birmingham region of England but when I looked at it more closely it turned out to be made of porcelain whith gilded copper mounts. The porcelain could to be soft paste but I am not certain. It does have a slightly greenish translucency. The entire box is covered with really nice hand painted flowers as well as lots of insects / bugs . A single rose to the bottom. The style of flowers is not German but I cannot pin point where they are from either not have I seen a piece with this many little insects painted on it. So it is a mystery to me. Definitely a nice early and quality piece! I still think it might be English but could be French as well. The piece is not marked at all. It is in great condition with wear to the bottom which is to be expected. No chips, etc. The gilding on the mounts is a bit worn but in better shape than most I have come across. Just a really nice piece and maybe someone out there knows who made it and could send me a note. The piece is about 1.75 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide and 3.125 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
