Pirkenhammer Cup & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer made by Pirkenhammer which is now located in the Czech Republic around 1850. The factory was located in a Bohemian village Pirkenhammer ( Brezova ) near Karlovy Vary also known as Karlsbad. A Mr. Hoeke founded the factory around 1803 with the help of the Greiner family (from the Thuringia area). In about 1810 Christian Fischer & Reichenbach bought it and after 1845 Reichenbach was gone. In 1852 Christian's daughter Wilhelmine married her cousin Ludwig von Mieg. The company was now Fischer & Mieg. They won a few very high prestige awards for their porcelain. After the 1840's the porcelain became more decorative and higher quality. The company is still around today which is a rare feat. The cup and saucer is hand painted with a pink and purple luster design along the rim with little panels of flowers and green corsses. There used to be a lot of gold trim on top of the pink but that is mostly gone now. I originally thought these are Russian until I found the mark on them. The cup has a rough inner rim area where a lid would have sat. Both pieces are marked with an impressed F&M mark as well as a number 2. Impossible to see unless you shine a bright light through it. The cup is 3 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 5.625 inches in diameter. In good condition with the missing gold already mentioned and the missing lid also mentioned already. Still looks great. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
