Frankenthal Knife

This is a superb and rare knife with a porcelain handle made by Frankenthal in the 18th century. The handle is simply modeled and hand painted with a larger floral arrangement on the one side and some smaller flowers scattered around. The ferrule between the handle and the blade has a nice circular design to it and is likely made of silver though it is unmarked. The blade is silver plated by the looks of it and a later replacement than the handle would have originally had. The blade is marked with a few hallmarks as shown though I do not know anything about this sort of thing. The blade goes into the handle and there is a spot coming out on the other end of the handle which was filled in. The knife is in superb condition with some use marks to the metal parts but the porcelain is in superb condition. The entire piece is 8.375 inches long of which 3.25 are from the porcelain handle. The handle is about 0.75 inches wide. It is not marked where one could see it if at all but the flowers are very typical of this maker. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
