Cup & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer made by Frankenthal. It was made between 1795 and 1799 during the van Recum period. Only reason I know is that the seller also had a pretty damaged cup and saucer from this set that was marked with the VR mark in underglaze blue. This piece only has incised marks - C and 1 but is definitely by them from that period. I recently found pieces from this set in a book so I added a few pictures to show you I am not making it up :) The saucer is handpainted with a gentleman facing the other way as well as small blue cornflowers. The cup has a gentleman facing sideways on one side and a musical motif on the other side. Same small flowers all around as well as a gold trim. The set is in good condition with a small rim chip to the saucer mostly underneath, some wear to the gold trim and the blue ribbon in the musical design as well as small black spots from the making mostly underneath the saucer. The cup is 2.25 inches tall and 2.375 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or photos.
