Sheep Scene Oval Platter

This is a nice oval platter / serving dish made by Frankenthal in 1777. It is hand painted with a large scene in the center including two standing sheep as well as a few lying down in the background all in a superb landscape surrounding. There are four floral arrangements along the rim and a vouple of small single flowers scattered around. The edge has a bit of a relief design to the paste and a gold trim. Its a nice piece and not something you find too often at all. The plate is marked with the CT mark under the crown in under glaze blue as well as some incised marks and a blue 77 on the footring. The platter is 1.5 inches tall, 11.75 inches wide and 8.75 inches deep. It displays perfectly but there is a glaze line to one area as shown. It looks like a hairline from the top and has stained through a little bit but there is no line except for the stain on the underside so it must just be a glaze line that is quite old and stable. Does not affect the piece and is not obvious when on display. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
