Faience Figure of Gentleman & Goat

This is a faience figurine made by one of the French faience makers in the late 18th or early 19th century. Sadly I am not as well versed in faience as I am in porcelain so the exact maker eludes me. A very nice figure of a gentleman with his goat. He is nicely dressed with one sock lower than the other. A friend of mine told me once it was a hidden sign the modeler was gay but I have no idea if that is true. Striped pants and dotted shirt and a blue vest with a blue scarf around his neck and a pink hat. Nice base with some greenery to it. The piece is in great condition with one of the back hooves of the goat broken off but since that is hidden in the back the piece displays perfectly. A scratch or two from age which can be expected but nothing bad at all. The figurine is unmarked but certainly was made by one of the top French faience makers of this period. It is 6.875 inches tall, 2.75 inches wide and 3.125 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $249
