Faience Figurine of Winter

This is a faience figurine made by one of the French faience makers in the 18th century. Not entirely sure which one but the quality is superb! It obviously represent winter and was likely from an entire series of the four seasons. Thefigure is nicely modeled and of a putto wearing ice skates while sitting on a rock base. He has a cloth covering his head and back and there is a little bowl in front of him with coals in it that he is warming his hands over. A very typical depcition of winter by many makers. What makes this piece extra special is the superb base. Reticulated on all four sides with a nice design in the center and some puce trim. I have never seen anything like it in the porcelain or faience world. Definitely special! The detail of the modeling and hand painting is very nice. The figure is in good condition with some minor flaws typical to faience pieces from this period. There is some crazing and a missed glaze spot to the back, a small chip to the edge of the bowl, his left thumb is missing and the finger tips on that hand are missing glaze and one skate tip, edge of the cloth and a few corners are missing a touch of glaze but all in all given the age and fragile nature of this piece it is in amazing condition! The figurine is 6.75 inches tall and the base is 2.125 inches on each side. Unmarked which does not help me ID the maker at all :( but definitely a top quality 18th century example.
