French Magnifying Glass with Meissen Stopper

This is an interesting item for the true Meissen crazy person like me :) It is a magnifying glass with a bamboo handle made in France that has a Meissen bottle stopper attached to the end. The figural bottle stopper was made by Meissen in the 19th century . It is in the form of a young man's head which I think is meant to be the god Pan since in the hair there are two horns hidden and the ears are pointier than they usually are. The detail of the porcelain piece is superb especially the hand painting. I am not sure how the porcelain head is connected to the bomboo handle but they often have a screw or corkscrew attached to them so I assume that goes into the hollow part of the handle and it has been glued. The handle is really nice with the root system at the end which blends in perfectly with the collar of the porcelain. The handle is marked with an impressed BROT PALAIS ROYAL - I tried to look this up but found nothing except a cane with a silver topper marked the same way. The magnifying glass part is quite powerful and has a brass ring around it with a screw attachment at the bottom that attaches it to the handle. The piece is in superb condition with some wear to the paint of the porcelain head and some minor use marks. The piece displays perfectly and is really neat! The porcelain piece would be marked with the blue crossed swords underneath but since it is glued I cannot access it. The entire magnifying glass 12 inches long with the glass part being just under 3.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
