Chinoiserie Knife #2

This is a rare large knife with the handle made of soft paste porcelain made by Mennecy around 1740. The porcelain handle is hand painted with a Chinoiserie design in polychrome including a little boy and a building. The blade is steel which is marked as shown and the ferrule is sterling silver. The knife is amazingly complete with the blade which isn't that common. There is some wear to the design which is normal on softpaste porcelain like this and the end that connects to the blade has a hairline. The blade has a bit of oxidation to it as shown which is unavoidable. The piece that sticks out at the end of the handle has a piece on one side missing but that doesn;t affect anything. The porcelain is unmarked which is the norm. The knife is 10.125 inches long of which the visible porcelain handle is about 3.375 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
