Turkey & Chicken Scene Plate

This is a nice plate made by Fuerstenberg in the 18th century. The piece is hand painted with a superb bird scene in the center including a Tom turkey, a chicken and a chick. The rim has four panels surrounded with a relief scroll design with some gold highlights. The two smaller panels have a little bird scene in themand the larger panels two floral garlands. In between them are four bugs/butterflies. Nicely shaped edge with gold trim to it. A gold ring around the scene in the center. Three tiny bugs near the ring around the well that are super cute. A great loooking plate with a hard to find design to it. Something a bit different from the more common floral pieces, etc. The plate is marked underneath with the script letter F in under glaze blue in the center as shown as well as an impressed four and a dot along the foot ring. The piece is in good condition with some wear to the gilding mainly to the gold ring around the scene in the well from stacking and it has some chips along the foot ring underneath as shown. Displays nicely and it is an unusual design. The ring could be regilded if need be which would make it lookmuch better, The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 9.375 inches in diameter.
