Pre 1760 Pumpkin Sugar Dish

This is a very early lidded sugar bowl dish made by Furstenberg during the very beginning of their existence pre 1760. It has a nice shape to it - I think some sort of pumpkin or melon based design. I know they did lemons and a few others but have never seen this design here. The piece has lots of molded details to it. The lid has a branch finial with a large as well as a small elaf to it while the main body has a small leaf to either terminal of the handle. The rest of the body has this rough relief lines design to it. Really a neat piece! Could not find anything like it in my books or online. It is in good condition with the leaves on the lid being damaged as well as some small chipping along the edge of the lid. An easy fix for a decent restorer but looks great as is and is deinitely a rare piece! There is some evidence of cold painting on the terminal leaves of the handle as shown. The main body is marked underneath with the under glaze blue script F mark with a line by it as shown. Definitely an unusual and early piece! It is about 4.25 inches tall to the tip of the finial, 3.75 inches from handle to other side and 3.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or photos.
