Fulda Scenic Cup & Saucer

This is a superb and very rare cup and saucer made by Fulda in the 18th century. Fulda was founded by Prince Abbot Heinrich VIII von Bibra zu Fulda in 1764. The factory closed its doors after a short existence in 1789. The figures of Fulda are probably the most expensive pieces of German porcelain one can own but it is rare to find any pieces by this maker as they only made porcelain for a few years. The set is marked with the under glaze blue cross mark they sometimes used (more often it was the FF mark under the crown) and an impressed I under the cup. The piece is hand painted with nice polychrome scene in the center of the saucer and to the front of the cup. A simple gold trim to the edge and a bit of gilding to the handle. The scenes include people, buildings, water and the usual greenery as shown. They are of a nice quality! The cup is 1.875 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter while the saucer is 1.125 inches tall and about 5.375 inches in diameter. Both are in superb condition with just a couple minor firing flaws from when they were made. Definitely a rare and interesting set! Please email me for more information or photos.
