18thC Carving Set

This is a very rare carving set consisting of a knife and a fork made in German pre 1730. I showed to a buddy of mine who knows all about this sort of thing and here is what he thought. There is a similar set in the Sheffield Museum which states pre 1730 and no later. This style of fork was found in England and in Northern Germany the knife blade is certainly not English nor is the mark which is either German or Dutch. So he says the set is Northern European most likely German possibly with Dutch hardware. So there you have it. A rare set from the early days in great condition. The metal has a bit of the usual oxidation, the fork handle (aka haft ) has one small glaze imperfection and the knife has a hairline along the top and the bottom that look stable. There are no marks except for the crown on the knife blade. The knife is 11 inches long of which 3.75 inches is porcelain and the fork is 10.5 inches long of which 3.75 is the porcelain handle. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $1499
