Lady's Arm Bodkin / Needle Case

This is a rare figural needle / bodkin case / etui in the shape of a lady's arm made in Germany in the late 18th to early 19th century. These come in newer versions as well but the way the lid is attached here shows it is quite early. The arm is modeled with a sculpted sleeve and ruffle and is holding a bunch of grapes in its hand with the leaves on top. Very well modeled and hand painted to look very elegant. The lid is made of silver and has a raised floral design to it. The piece is in great condition with a touch of wear to the gilding, a chip to the tip of the middle finger and some chipping to the leaves. Having said that the piece display superbly and looks amazing! The inside cavity goes only to the end of the ruffles so the bare arm part is solid. The needle case is 4 inches long and about 1.125 inches at its widest. The lid closes perfectly! Please email me for more information or photos.
