Gypsy Lady Portrait Plaque

This is a nice porcelain plaque made in Germany in the mid to late 19th century. It is hand painted with a very nicely done portrait of a lady after the painting named Odalisque by the German painter Gustav Karl Ludwig Richter. Odalisque was originally an enslaved female attendant in an Ottoman harem, but the term also refers to an eroticized artistic genre depicting women in a harem setting. Here we have a young lady with long black hair wearing a red cap with coin jewelry. Often said to be a Gypsy / Romani / Roma lady which could be true since the Ottoman empire did include that region. A well painted piece that was definitely made in Germany during this period but it is not marked with a maker's mark nor signed by an artist. It has a nice size to it being 4.625 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide. Displays nicely with a touch of wear around the outer edge and two chips to the back which are visible from the side but not the front. So once it is framed it will look perfect!
