Porcelain Handle with Silver Blade

This is a cute little butter or fruit knife with a porcelain handle that was most likely made in Germany in the late 19th century. Not entirely sure on the porcelain and the blade is not original so that doesn't help. It is however a very nice sterling silver blade made by J.E. Caldwell & Co. The porcelain piece is nicely hand painted with some flowers, has a nice puce trim on some relief designs and the porcelain tip is gilded and meant to look like an 18th century example where the metal of the blade would have gone all the way through the porcelain. The piece is in perfect condition. The knife is about 7.375 inches long of which 3.25 inches is visible porcelain. The handles are 0.75 inches at the widest part. The porcelain is not visibly marked but the Sterling silver blade is marked as shown. Please e-mail me for more information or photos.
