German Scenic Cup & Saucer

This is a really nice cup and saucer made made in Germany in the late 19th century I would guesstimate. Not sure on the maker. One sees pieces with this mark from time to time and it is always sold as Meissen but it was not made by them. I could never figure out who might have made them. Quality and style is very close to them but it is probably from the Dresden area of Germany. Both pieces are hand painted with a superb scene - one incoluding a lady in a landscape surrounding and the other a couple. The scenes are surrounded by a ncie trim including flowers and gilding with the design on the cup being a bit fancier. Each has a gold trim to the edge and the cup has some gilding to the handle as well. The cup and saucer are both in great condition with some wear to the gilding but they display nicely. The set is marked with an under glaze mark that looks close to the crossed swords mark but it not. Painter's number 2 under the cup. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall and has a diameter of 5.5 inches. Please email me for more information or photos.
