Scenic Cup & Saucer w/ Words #1

This is a nice scenic cup and saucer made in Germany in the early 19th century. Most likely in the Thuringia area of Germany or possibly by Schlaggenwald or Schney since both pieces have an incised S underneath. The style is very much copied from the French Paris area pieces one finds much more often. The cup and saucer each have a hand painted scene to them including the word Lebe on the cup and Gluecklich on the saucer which combined says Lebe Gluecklich ( live happily ). A nice touch and likely given as a present to someone special. A bit of gold trim to each piece makes this a very nice set! Nicely painted but not as nice as the top makers. Still lots of charm and since both pieces are in great condition with just some minor wear to the gilding and typical small firing flaws definitely worth owning! Like I said before both pieces are marked with an incised S. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 2.375 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and has a diameter of 5 inches.
