Thuringia Strawflower Teacaddy - no Lid

This is a German 18th-century tea caddy with the forget-me-not pattern, c. 1780. A make-do silver lid replaces the original porcelain lid on this caddy with the popular “L’immortelle” or forget-me-not pattern, which was immensely popular in the 18th century and is still popular today. Early pieces are hard to find, of course, and this one dates from the last quarter of the 18th century. With no mark, it’s impossible to attribute it specifically, but it was most probably made by one of the smaller factories in Thuringia. It stands 4.5 inches high and has one small chip and a few other small flaws. It belongs to a good friend of mine. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $150
