Unusual WWI Iron Cross Pendant

This is a very unusual pendant especially for me owning it. I normally almost only collect porcelain but given my German heritage when I came across this piece I knew it was something out of the ordinary and had to buy it :) It is a necklace pendant of an iron cross from WWI on a guilloche enamel background that was done on 800 Silver. I have never seen anything like it nor can I find anything in my research. I have no idea if it was originally made this way for a lady recipient which were not unheard off but fairly rare. If so it would ahve been someone special to receive a specially made piece! So as you can see I know little about the piece. Definitely rare and unusual. The iron corss is smaller than the normal ones but does have the W in the center, the crown on the top part and the year 1914 on the bottom part. The back of the pendant is marked 800 for the silver purity and Ges. Geschuetzt for the German copyright. That was used until 1991 I believe. The pendant comes with a necklace that is marked ITALY and a number that I cannot make out - could be 750. It looks to be silver as well not some other metal. It is actually a really nice fine necklace perfect for the pendant. The set is in great condition with an area of minor discoloration on the right side of the guilloche enamel next to the iron cross. Not obvious at all when worn! The silver edge of the iron cross has some spotting like oxidation. The pendant 0.125 inches thick, 1.375 inches tall with the necklace attachment sticking up a bit and 1 inch wide. The necklace is 7.75 inches long when closed. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
