Khedive Fancy Cup & Saucer

This is an rare cup and saucer made by Richard Ginori in the 19th century. It is hand painted with a famous decoration designed by Gaetano Lodi between 1873 and 1875 for the Egyptian Khedive ( Viceroy during the Turkish occupation) which looks quite stunning and is definitely very Egyptian :) They made a few more pieces later on but they are extremely rare and very much collected due to the obviously stunning design. Both pieces are decorated with a very colorful version with the red, green, yellow, blue and gold colors. The cup has this amazing handle in the shape of some lotus flower blossoms and a fish design to the otherside with two lotus flower buds. The saucer has a lotus flowers and buds design to the center held together by a yellow, red and gold band. I also own a teapot, sugar dish and creamer which would go with this cup very well and it would be an amazing set. Plus a very rare design with some nice history. The cup is in perfect condition but the saucer has a large flat chip to the edge reglued which could be hidden better by a good restorer. The chip does not affect the underside so it is rather flat! The set displays superbly and is so rare that one can deal with slight damage like this I think. The pot is marked underneath with a green Ginori mark used from 1868 until 1903 but since there are no accompanying marks it will be towards the earlier side of this period so quite likely from the original service. The cup is 2.5 inches tall (plus a bit more at the handle) and just under 3.25 inches in diameter plus 0.875 inches at the handle. The saucer is 0.75 inches tall with a diameter of just under 6 inches! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
