Gotha Later Painted Green Ground Cup

This is a cup made by Gotha around 1790. Gotha is probably the best of the Thuringia makers in terms of quality of the paste and painting. This cup is handpainted with a scene in the front including some ruins with columns which is surrounded by a nice gold trim. Nice handle shape with some gilding to it and a green ground color covering the rest of the piece though I am ccertain this is a later touch and not original to the piece - done to make it more marketable - with the right heavy duty solvent this should come off which I might try in my spare time. The cup is in great condition with not issues to report. It is are marked underneath with the underglaze blue R.g. mark as well as a blue letter Z (or something like that) and an impressed 2. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 2.375 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $99
