Gotha Long Message Saucer

This is a saucer made by Gotha in the 18th century. An unusual piece as it has a long message written on the entire center of it. The rim has a nice gold design to it some of which is raised. The black script writing states - Moeg o Pathe, Dir hell Dein kuenftiges Leben verfliessen. Wie der murmelnde Bach der mir den Nahmen geliehen. Auch sey Friede mit Dir wie er mein ist, des goldengelockten. Wenn Du mit schwankendem Fuss Hymens Gefilde betrittst. Not entirely sure of all of it but it goes something like this. Godson - may you future life be bright. Like a babbling brook that loaned his name to you. Also have peace and then I am lost. I am missing some sort of between the lines thing which I am sure is linked to the underlined words. Either way a neat saucer and another superb example of Gotha's work! The piece is in great condition with a touch of wear. The saucer is marked underneath with the underglaze blue R.g. mark, a blue dot near the edge and an incised small x and P. The saucer is 5.25 inches in diameter and 1.125 inches tall. Please email me for more information or photos.
