Gotha Reinhardtsbrun Scene Plate

This is a great scenic plate made by Gotha in the mid 19th century. Gotha is probably the best of the Thuringia makers in terms of quality of the paste and painting. They existed from 1757 until 1937 in one form or another. This plate is hand painted with a nice quality large scene filling the entire well of the plate and a nice gold trim. The name under this scene is Reinhardtsbrun now spelled Reinhardtsbrunn in Friedrichroda near Gotha. The castle was converted in 1827 from a formerly prominent Benedictine abbey. The scene shows the castle in a nice landscape surrounding. Really nice looking scene! Thin gold trim around the edge of the well with a thin and a wide gold band around the edge of the plate. The plate is in good condition with some wear and use marks. It displays very nicely! It is marked underneath with the impressed mark of a hen on a hill in an oval and an impressed 3 as shown. The plate is 7.875 inches in diameter and 1 inch tall. Please email me for more information or photos.
