Gotha Blue & White Coffee Pot

This is a lidded pot made by Gotha around 1780. Gotha is probably the best of the Thuringia makers in terms of quality of the paste and painting. They existed from 1757 until 1937 in one form or another. This pot is a superb example of Gotha's work. The quality of the porcelain is superb which is one of the ways one can differentiate Gotha and Rauenstein when they carry the R mark. Niccely handpainted strawflower design to a classicism influenced piece. The handles have a fake screw on either side where they attach to the main body which I like. The piece is in perfect condition! It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue letter R and an incised 9. The pot and lid are 5.5 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or photos.
