Gustavsberg Parian Figurine

This is a parian porcelain figurine made during the Art Nouveau era by Gustavsberg / Gustafsberg in 1899. Gustavsberg Fabriker was founded around 1827. Not much noteworthy happened here until the end of the 19th century. They were the only European maker outside of England to make bone china. Under the leadership of Wilhelm Kaege they finally produced their own style of items which were very good. Bernd Freberg seems to be the modeller of most of the good figurines and the prominent Swedish artist Adele Rudenschöld who made this piece here! The figurine is of a boy sleeping on top of his dog. A very touching interaction between them meant as a celebration of loyalty and innocence. The figure is very well modeled and in superb condition with just a teeny nibble to the bottom edge on the right side plus a few minor manufacturing flaws common to these earlier pieces. The figurine is 3.5 inches tall, 7.125 inches wide and 6.125 inches deep. Marked in the back with the impressed Gustafsberg over an anchor mark with the year 99 for 1899. Also an impressed AF under a crown for the artist in the back on top of the base by the boys hand. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
