Hague Bird Scene Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made by The Hague / Den Haag around 1780 - looks to be painted on Ansbach blanks. Both pieces are hand painted with a superb bird scene as well as a gold trim to the edge and handle. Scenes like this are quite hard to find on their wares. Each piece has a bird sitting in a small bush/tree in a nice landscape surrounding. A couple of tiny puece flowers throughout the saucer and two on the cup as well as another one to the inside cup. Really nice quality painting! The set is in great condition with some flaking of the enamels of the leaves above the ground on the saucer as shown. A little bit of wear but they do display nicely. A pretty early set for this maker! Both pieces are marked with the above glaze blue stork. The stork is holding the eel on the saucer but not on the cup. This mark exists but is rare. The cup is 2 inches tall and 3.125 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
